IZ7PDX, BIOGRAPHY (English version).

I was born in Martina Franca on March 21,1973 , and since I was a child I developed an irresistible passion for the world of electronics and telecommunications.
The initial experience led me to disassemble all the electronic equipments (computers were not yet available to everyone) to understand how they worked.
When I was 10 years old  I had my first radio Cb 27 MHz and this opened new horizons.
I graduated  as master electrician and I studied engineering, but my interests were focused in the field of fashion photography and advertising so I lived in Milan for several years.

After so long I finally was able to take the amateur radio license and put all the experience accumulated in years of study and field research.
Several times I asked myself over the years, what was the meaning of our hobby, and if it had a certain utility!

The value that I give to the art of communicating with the radio (analogically or digital that is), is to establish a friendly contact with the world and to demonstrate correctness and a sense of ethics for our passion, which sometimes proves very useful in cases of serious natural disasters (see the recent earthquake in Abruzzo, Italy).

It is not a challenge  for who possesses an expensive and highly performable station (with unlimited budget ), but the real challenge is the ability to obtain perfect performances using small investments, optimizing every detail and even developing the ability to expect the performance of antennas and connecting lines with the aid of self-made software.
Very often you have enormous potency but not that of  the design of the ring, resulting in dispersion of precious watt that do not  gain in transmission (not to mention in Rx)!
My intention  is  to invest a minimum in hardware to obtain a good performance increase in the future.

It is exciting to read new or old but still valid theory books that have not undergone substantial differences over the years in order to refine the design and capabilities to capitalize on the experiences of our big colleagues predecessors.

In conclusion I have found it very useful at the end of my formation as a radio amateur listening to small and large stations which have been a very constructive example to me. In spite of all the positive uses of our hobby, it often happens to listen in different frequencies many radio amateurs that demonstrate a high grade of rudeness and ignorance, but we know there is always  black sheep!

IZ7PDX, BIOGRAFIA (italian version).

Sono nato a Martina Franca il 21.03.1973, e sin da piccolo ho sviluppato una irrefrenabile passione verso il mondo dell'elettronica e delle telecomunicazioni.
Le prime esperienze mi portavano a smontare ogni dispositivo elettronico (i computer non erano ancora alla portata di tutti) per capire come funzionavano.
A 10 anni ho avuto la mia prima radio Cb 27 MHz e si sono aperti nuovi orizzonti.
Ho conseguito il diploma di perito elettrotecnico e ho studiato ingegneria ma i miei interessi professionali si sono orientati nel settore della fotografia di moda e pubblicità e ho vissuto a Milano per diversi anni.

Dopo tanto tempo ho finalmente potuto prendere la patente di radio amatore e mettere in pratica tutta l'esperienza accumulata nei anni di studio e ricerca sul campo.
Più volte mi sono chiesto negli anni ,quale fosse il senso di questo nostro hobby, e se avesse una certa utilità !
Il valore che do  all’arte di comunicare con la radio (in modo analogico o digitale che sia), è quello di istaurare un contatto amichevole con il mondo e dimostrare correttezza e senso deontologico per questa nostra passione, che a volte si rivela molto utile in caso di gravi disastri naturali (vedi il recente terremoto in Umbria, Italy).

Non certo è una sfida continua a chi possiede la stazione più costosa e performante (con bagdet di spesa illimitato) , ma la capacità di ottenere con piccoli investimenti le più ambite prestazioni, ottimizzando ogni particolare e sviluppando magari la capacità di predigere  le performance di antenne e linee di collegamento con l’ausilio di software nell’autocostruzione.
Molto spesso si dispone di potenze enormi ma non si cura il progetto del ring, con conseguente disperdi mento di preziosi wat che non ottengono nessun guadagno in trasmissione (non parliamo poi in Rx)!

Il mio proposito è di investire un minimo sull’hardware per ottenere buone prestazioni da incrementare nel tempo.
È  appassionante leggere nuovi o vecchi ma sempre validi libri di teoria che non hanno subito sostanziali differenze nel corso degli anni, al fine di affinare le capacità progettuali e far tesoro delle esperienze dei nostri saggi colleghi predecessori.

In ultimo ho trovato molto utile al fine della mia formazione di radioamatore, l’ascolto di piccole e grandi stazioni che sono state un esempio operativo non indifferente. Malgrado però, capita spesso di ascoltare in frequenza diversi “radio-amatori” che dimostrano un alto grado di maleducazione e ignoranza, ma si sa c’è sempre la pecora nera!
